Based on requests from Somali fishing community members, Secure Fisheries coordinated an eight-day net making training. Fifteen participants, primarily fishers and fishmongers, attended the training, led by a local expert. By the end of the training, participants were able to make their own nets and repair torn ones. It also included a train-the-trainer component so that select participants can transfer skills to other community members. This training supports fisheries co-management by providing desired and tangible skills to those working in the fisheries sector.
