Al Naim Farm

Al Naim Farm “Al Naim” is a 200 hectare farm located near Afgooye in South Central, Somalia. Operating since 1997, Al Naim harvests from over 100,000 banana trees and 7,812 lemon trees in order to sell fresh produce to local fruit traders and wholesalers.  The farm sells to established distributors with connections in Middle Eastern markets, but needed to improve its operations and secure a more reliable water source in order to expand into other foreign markets.

Using financing acquired with the help of Shuraako, Al Naim successfully purchased a bulldozer to assist in digging a well on the property to stabilize its water source.  With the additional equipment and well, the farm has increased both banana and lemon production by over 78% each, and has saved considerably on rental costs.
