Daalo Fishing

Daalo Fishing “Daalo” was initially established in 2011 as a business that bought, fileted and fried fish for local consumption in Berbera.   Over time, the company has expanded into the fishing market by purchasing three fishing boats and renting property to process and store its catch. Daalo now sells fish to wholesalers and retailers throughout Somaliland in Berbera, Burao, and Hargeisa.  Prior to receiving funding, Daalo did not have the production capacity to meet the demand of its current customers or to expand into broader markets in the region.

With the financing it procured in 2017, Daalo has purchased an additional boat and nets for its fleet.  With the acquisition of the boat and fishing equipment, the company is expected to increase the size of its monthly catch by up to 57%.
