Las Durre Farm

Las Durre Farm has been operating for the past 20 years, producing fruits and vegetables in the Las Durre valley in Somaliland. The farm’s primary customers include wholesalers, distributors (primarily female retailers in Gobannimo Market in Hargeisa), food service companies, supermarket chains and smaller regional markets. The farm also reaches customers through its membership in the Barwaaqo Farmers’ Cooperative, who assist members by ensuring that most of their goods reach market. The farm sought an investment to scale its operations and further diversity its product offerings.

With Shuraako’s help, Las Durre secured an investment and was able to purchase a mini tractor and irrigation system. The investment increased the land area cultivated by 50% (from 8ha to 12ha). The farm increased its production capacity enabling additional crop varieties to be produced. Five additional jobs were created as a result of this investment.
