Mr. Fruto

Mr. Fruto is a storefront ice cream, sweets and juice bar that sells freshly squeezed natural juices prepared and served in plastic cups that can be taken on safari or consumed in the store. Mr. Fruto opened its doors on February 10, 2014 with its flagship location operating in the Hodan district of Mogadishu.  Mr. Fruto serves its products both in store and to customers sitting comfortably in their cars, making Mr. Fruto the first drive-through ice cream and juice bar in Mogadishu. Mr. Fruto provides its loyal and growing customer base with unique healthy product offerings and high quality of service.  Mr. Fruto sells its highly sought after ice cream in various flavors, including strawberry, caramel and chocolate. In addition to ice cream and juice, the store sells mixed fruits, cocktail fruits, Mushakal, toorto, cakes, and various other Somali sweets.

To meet the growing demand for its popular products, Mr. Fruto needed to expand its business to include two additional retail stores. After obtaining financing facilitated by Shuraako, Mr. Fruto opened two new stores in the Lido and Hamarweyn districts of Mogadishu. The finances have helped Mr. Fruto purchase new equipment, such as ice cream machines, coffee machines, food processors, fryers, and display cases. The loan has increased the profitability and customer base of Mr. Fruto, and created several new jobs in Mogadishu.

After demonstrating the timely and advanced repayment of its initial loan, Mr. Fruto secured further financing to procure additional equipment for its three Mogadishu stores.  This will allow the company to expand its product line to include French fries and other items that complement its current offerings.
