Somali National Fishing Company

Founded in 2002, Somali National Fishing Company (“SNFC”) is a medium-sized fish processing company that started its operations with a goal of providing quality and accessible fish products throughout Somalia. Since then, SNFC has grown to become one of the largest fish exporters in the country, offering quality fish products internationally. The company also owns a processing center where the catch is inspected and processed. In addition, the company owns a freezer-equipped retail store geared toward attracting households and individual consumers.

In 2019 SNFC sought to continue growing its production capacity and worked with Shuraako to procure two 10.5m fishing boats, 4,000 m2 of land, two refrigerated storage containers, and packaging material for further expansion of the company. Through the Shuraako-brokered investment, SNFC was able to use the land as additional space for cool storage and for dry fish processing, as production volumes increased.
