“Tea Tree” is a popular café that sells a variety of coffees, teas, and baked goods in Garowe, Puntland. Launched in 2016 by three members of the Somali diaspora, the café has grown beyond food and beverage service and has become a gathering place for the local community. The café further engages the community through its hospitality trainings which train people how to become entrepreneurs and launch their own business.
After securing financing with the assistance of Shuraako in 2017, Tea Tree was able to procure quality kitchen and bakery equipment and furnishings in order to open another location in Bosaso. This new store offers an expanded menu, a full service bakery, and a catering and delivery service which allows Tea Tree to cater to local students, business owners and professionals.
